Jeremy Karpen Runs Grassroots Campaign While Incumbent Berrios Idles

CHICAGO – Jeremy Karpen’s campaign committee announced Tuesday that he had raised more money in the first half of 2010 than his opponent, the Democratic incumbent Maria ‘Toni’ Berrios.

In campaign disclosures filed last week, Green challenger Karpen’s campaign reported more than $9,000 in total receipts, with over $5,400 in individual contributions. In this same period, Democratic incumbent Berrios raised under $6,300, with $3,500 in individual contributions.

Jeremy marched with Tom Tresser and volunteers from the Illinois Green Party in the Puerto Rican Peoples' Parade in Humboldt Park on Saturday. The parade celebrated the Puerto Rican people in Chicago and the amazingly multicultural and diverse communities of Logan Square and Humboldt Park.

Jeremy joined Green Party Gubernatorial candidate Rich Whitney for the kickoff and first leg of his 'Rails and Trails' Sustainable Transportation Tour of Illinois.
The tour kicked off in Logan Square at the new (and almost complete) headquarters of the Illinois Green Party and the Karpen Campaign. Rich and Jeremy visited with folks from the Dill Pickle Food Coop, and talked bikes and urban planning with the team at Boulevard Bikes.

May Day 2010

Thank you to everyone that joined Jeremy and the Green Party on May Day!
Last Saturday, Jeremy Karpen, and members of the Green Party rallied and marched in solidarity with the Latino and Hispanic community of Illinois. We marched, in the wake of Arizona's SB1070, to end racial profiling and workplace exploitation and to bring attention to the need for a just, humane, and comprehensive immigration reform policy.
